Fabulous February

Here is to a fabulous February, it’s one of those beautiful months for me, two men that have great significance in my life were born in February, my dad turns a glorious seventy-nine years today! On the 15th my husband celebrates his birthday! And On the 14th my husband and I celebrate our dating anniversary! Its truly the month of LOVE for me!

I promised to tell you about the beginning of the year ritual so here goes……
This year after a very long time I have gone back to making resolutions. This blog is a result of one of my resolutions. I have always had a dream to be a creative writer and this year have made the resolution to do something about that dream. I do hope that a few years from now I will look back to 2012 as the year I turned my writing career around and launched into the land of living my dreams. I know it sounds all cliché to be making New year’s resolutions because its so easy to make them with the excitement of a new year but really hard to keep your resolutions. Cliché it may be but I have chosen to make resolutions this year because I believe it helps to set goals, put measurable targets and at worst like they say if you reach for the sky even if you don’t reach it you’ll land somewhere close to it! I have decided to reach for the sky not with the hope of landing somewhere near but actually landing on it. I intend to keep myself motivated, I know I may fall off the wagon but I intend to get right back and push forward! I intend for my dreams to become a reality.

So after making all the resolutions I could think of and top of the list was better self management. I decided to pray and ask God to help me keep my resolutions so that come end of the year I have something to celebrate and smile about. True to His word, He answered my prayer and this will sound like I am backtracking on my resolution making ritual or not taking responsibility for my life but I am going to say it anyways.  God showed me that I can of myself do nothing but Holy Spirit living in me, is the power that makes my life what it is. No matter how much will power, positive confession and personal development books I would read I could never become the person I imagined while making my resolutions unless I depended on Holy Spirit. So my top priority resolution changed and became I want more of God, more time spent with Holy Spirit, more time in God’s Word and more time praying.

I bet you wanna know how that’s been going so far now that we are in the second month of the year. Well, not so good, so to spend more time in the Word I found a webpage that helps you track your bible reading and I signed up for a program to read through the Bible chronologically in 90 days. I started this program in the second week of January and kept up with the daily readings for the first two weeks but on the third week I missed my weekend readings and that set me off a bit. I had two options give up the whole thing and tell myself I was way too ambitious or pick up from where I had left and keep at it. I am glad and proud to report I picked up from where I was and well I may not read through the bible in 90days but I am going to do it maybe in 120days.

One of my resolutions was to keep my word and do what I promise, I promised to tell you about my new year ritual before the end of January, well I didn’t quite keep that promise but I am keeping the promise of having a post at least once each month.  So I am not perfect but I am well on my way toa better me!
